Florida's Invasive Species Management Tools
iMapInvasives - A web application developed by Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) used to map and track invasive species. The app is GIS-based and available to the public. The database supplements field research used to inventory invasive plants by partnering with the Florida Invasive Plants Geodatabase (FLinv). Citizen Scientists can register for a free account which provides access to plant distribution maps and allows users to report precise locations of sighted invasive organisms.

IPAlert - App users can upload reports of invasive species sighted within National Parks, such as the Everglades National Park. National Park Services use the information gained through this app to map and track the spread of invasive species and design management plans accordingly.

The Southeast Early Detection Network (SEEDN) - The SEEDN app brings the power of EDDMapS to your mobile device. Now individuals can submit invasive species observations with their smartphone directly from the field. These reports are uploaded to EDDMapS and e-mailed to local and state officials to verify, review and monitor.

What's Invasive - The What's Invasive! app displays local lists of the most common invasive plants and/or animals along with images and a brief descriptions to remind users of what the organism looks like. Most of the invasive species listed by this app have been identified by National Park Service or other invasive management authorities or conservation organizations.

Invasive Plants in Southern Forests: Identification and Management - This app is based on the U.S. Forest Service publication: A Field Guide for the Identification of Invasive Plants in Southern Forests. Invasions of nonnative plants into forests of the Southern United States continue to go unchecked and partially unmonitored. This app helps change that position by increasing the area of the forest that is monitored by professionals and citizen scientists.

Stink Bug Scout - An App designed for use by university researchers for making assessments of stink bug populations in fields and across habitats. At the point of collection, stink bugs are identified by the user, with assistance from a field guide built into the app database. Users can then entered information into the database by uploaded images. Managed by EDDMapS allows for multiple users simultaneously provide useful information in tracking stink bug populations. By using a smartphone all data points are entered with the current time, date, latitude and longitude and can be downloaded and sorted for further analyses

The Report Lion Fish App - Developed for The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to raise awareness of the dangers threatening Florida's marine ecosystems by invading lionfish. The FWC encourages people to remove any lionfish spotted in Florida waters in order to lessen the negative impacts to native fish and wildlife. The App has information about lionfish as well as the feature to take pictures and report sightings/harvests.
